What to expect
Orca is building a modern navigation system for sailors and cruisers. We are growing quickly, have an exciting journey ahead, and are looking for a CFO to join our executive team. This position will play a crucial role in the success of Orca.
The CFO is responsible for leading the financial strategy and planning, while also taking charge of scaling core operational functions, including contracts, logistics, and supply chain management. Your primary responsibility will be to strategize, implement, and monitor business processes to ensure financial stability, sustainable growth,maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations, and oversee selected operational functions.
The ideal candidate has the technical acumen to lead the financial operations of a growing tech business, can communicate effectively with internal teams, shareholders, and potential investors, has excellent time management abilities, and can drive operations effetively. This role directly supports Orca’s mission by ensuring exceptional day-to-day operations at a global scale. To succeed at Orca, you must be energetic, highly organized, and hard-working.
What You’ll Do
Financial Leadership
Be accountable for all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and human resources.
Lead the development of financial strategies that align with company growth objectives.
Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Manage cash flow, treasury functions, and financial risk management.
Lead fundraising initiatives and investor relations, providing financial insights to stakeholders.
Develop financial KPIs and performance metrics, providing executive-level reporting.
Operational Leadership
Lead supplier contracts and negotiations, ensuring cost-effective and reliable sourcing.
Drive strategic decisions regarding product pricing, capital investment, and resource allocation.
Oversee logistics and supply chain management for both hardware and software development.
Manage relationships with vendors, partners, and key service providers.
Drive operational efficiencies, optimizing processes across finance, procurement, and logistics.
Corporate Governance:
Collaborate with the CEO and leadership team on company strategy, providing financial and operational insights.
Ensure that the company adheres to sound corporate governance practices, including risk management, compliance, and reporting.
Team Leadership:
Build and lead the finance team as the company grows.
Foster a collaborative working environment across departments.
Mentor and develop team members, contributing to their professional growth.
This role is a hybrid/on-premise role at our Madrid office.
What You’ll Bring
Educational experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or a related field (MBA preferred)
Minimum 7+ years of experience in a financial leadership role, preferably within a startup or high-growth company.
Proven experience managing operational functions, including contracts, logistics, and supplier relationships.
Strong understanding of hardware and software business models is a plus.
Demonstrated experience in fundraising, IPOs, investor relations, and capital management.
Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Hands-on, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.

About the Team
You will be joining a small and close-knit team of industry veterans. We’ve been working in this space for years, and have several successful startups behind us. Our core experience is product development, software, and hardware engineering.
