Head of Supply Chain
Location: Madrid/Berlin/Oslo (Hybrid) · Full-time · Competitive compensation
Shape the Future of Marine Navigation
Orca builds the modern navigation platform for recreational boating. Today Orca operates with manufacturing partners in China and the United States, shipping globally through a direct-to-consumer model. Our hardware portfolio currently includes around five SKUs, with volumes growing as adoption of our mobile platform increases. Fulfilment today runs through a single 3PL warehouse.
As demand accelerates, the next stage of growth requires building a more structured, scalable operational system that can support higher volumes and a broader global footprint. We’re looking for a Head of Supply Chain to help shape the future of Orca.
Your Mission
Build the operational backbone that allows Orca to scale globally.
You own the full operational system behind Orca’s e-commerce business: suppliers, purchasing, inventory, logistics, fulfilment, and reverse logistics.
Within the first 12 months:
Stockouts are eliminated through structured inventory planning
Global delivery becomes fast and predictable
Working capital tied in inventory improves materially
A scalable warehouse and fulfilment strategy is defined for the next stage of growth
The role starts as an individual contributor and will build the operations team as Orca grows.
What You’ll Do
Supply Chain & Purchasing - Own the relationship with Orca’s manufacturing and supply partners.
Own supplier relationships across manufacturing and key partners
Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and supply agreements
Improve reliability, lead times, and cost structure across the supply chain
Inventory & Demand Planning - Ensure the company maintains optimal inventory levels while minimizing capital tied in stock.
Design and operate Orca’s inventory planning framework.
Forecast demand together with Growth and ensure product availability without excess inventory.
Define reorder policies and safety stock levels to balance service level and working capital.
Logistics & Fulfilment - Design and operate Orca’s global fulfilment network.
Manage relationships with 3PL partners and shipping carriers.
Define warehouse strategy and evolve the network as the company scales.
Continuously improve delivery speed, reliability, and shipping cost.
Reverse Logistics & Product Lifecycle - Build a structured system to manage returns, defects and repairs.
Build the systems for returns, defects, repairs, and product recovery.
Track defect patterns and operational issues across the product lifecycle.
Design efficient repair or refurbishment flows where appropriate.
Global Trade & Compliance - Ensure Orca operates correctly across international trade regulations.
Own the operational setup for global trade and cross-border logistics.
Ensure correct customs classification, import/export processes, and tax handling.
Continuously improve operational efficiency of international shipping.
Operational Systems & Automation- Build the systems and tooling that enable scalable operations.
Implement scalable systems for inventory, fulfilment, and operational planning.
Replace manual workflows with robust operational tooling.
Use automation and data to improve operational reliability and efficiency.
Financial Performance - Operations must contribute directly to financial performance.
Improve COGS through supplier negotiations and operational improvements.
Reduce logistics cost per order.
Improve inventory efficiency and working capital usage.
Partner with Finance to optimize payment terms and cash cycle.
Operational Transparency - Ensure operational transparency across the company.
Provide visibility across the company on supply status, inventory levels, and logistics performance.
Surface operational risks early and drive structured resolution.
Who are you
You are a pragmatic operator who enjoys bringing order to complex systems.
You are comfortable negotiating with suppliers, logistics partners, and internal teams while keeping a clear view of the numbers behind operations. You focus on outcomes: product availability, cost structure, and operational reliability.
You thrive in environments where processes are still evolving and take ownership of turning early-stage operations into scalable systems.
What You’ll Bring
You bring substantial experience running operations in a product company.
Experience leading supply chain, logistics, or operations in an e-commerce or hardware business
Experience managing global logistics and cross-border shipping
Experience negotiating with suppliers and operational partners
Experience with inventory planning and demand forecasting
Strong financial awareness around COGS, logistics costs, and working capital
Bonus experience:
Proven experience scaling operations from early stage to growth stage.
Experience expanding from single warehouse to multi-warehouse distribution.
Experience implementing operational systems (ERP/MRP).
Experience with reverse logistics or refurbishment programs.
Why This Role Is So Exciting
You’re building the operational backbone of a global product company. Orca is scaling quickly. This role defines how our products move from factory to customer worldwide.
You have the autonomy to design the system, not just run. You will not inherit a fixed operational structure. You will design the supply chain, logistics network, and operational systems that support the company as it grows.
You’ll work at the intersection of product, hardware, and software. You will collaborate closely with Product, Growth, and Engineering to ensure our operational system supports both hardware delivery and a rapidly growing digital platform.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive salary and meaningful equity. We’re building something big and want you to share in the upside.
Hybrid setup in Madrid, Berlin or Oslo. Enjoy the best of both worlds: in-person collaboration and flexible remote days.
Learn to sail. Curious about boating but not a sailor (yet)? We’ll cover sailing lessons so you can better understand our users—and have some fun along the way.
Annual team offsites. We gather each year to reconnect, reflect, and go sailing together.
