A marine display built for sunshine and sea
For most boaters, a phone or tablet can be a great companion on a calm day at sea. But if it is a warm day, or it starts to rain, regular devices quickly reveal their limitations. For those days on the water, you want something that is designed to handle the conditions on the water.
If you have ever wondered what separates a marine-grade device from regular consumer tablets and phones, watch the video below. It is a great introduction to the Orca Display 2 and explains what makes it such a great experience on the boat.
Brightness for hours on end
High-end consumer tablets can deliver high peak brightness, but only for a short moment. As they heat up, the screen dims to prevent overheating, making them difficult to use in direct sunlight.

Orca Display 2 maintains its full 1000 nits of sustained brightness in direct sunlight — all day, in any conditions. This is made possible by the Lumen HDX screen, which is custom-built by Orca. The Display 2 has a Thermal Backbone that dissipates heat from the LCD backlight and incoming sunlight across the Display internals, allowing it to maintain full brightness without throttling.
Raw brightness is important, but reflections also greatly affect the legibility of a screen. This is why Orca Display's screen also has an etched glass surface, which minimizes glare and reflections.

Many boaters use polarized sunglasses. Regular consumer devices use a polarization filter that makes the screens illegible when viewed from certain angles with polarized sunglasses. Orca Display 2 has a purpose-built optical film that lets you view the screen with polarized sunglasses from any angle. All these features, put together, enable the Display 2 to deliver chartplotter-level brightness and legibility in a compact and portable form factor.

Built for boating
Orca Display 2 is built for the marine environment. It handles rain, sea spray, and the rough conditions you expect on the water. The Display's touch screen is fine-tuned to reject water droplets, allowing you to use it in wet conditions.

Orca Display 2 supports wireless charging via the Orca Charging Mount. Wireless charging is perfect for boating, as it lets you charge the Display without exposing any open charging ports to water. The Display also comes with a USB-C charging port, which allows for fast charging when you are home or between passages. Touch input is fine-tuned to work in both cold and warm temperatures, and glove support makes the Display the perfect companion when boating in the north.
Orca Display 2 and the Orca Charging Mount make for a perfect hands-free navigation experience.
The modern way of boating
Orca Display 2 has built-in cellular connectivity. Just insert a SIM card, and you are ready to go. Weather forecasts and weather-aware routes, online AIS, data synchronization, chart updates, and software updates are delivered instantly. No need for SD cards or difficult-to-use companion apps.
Display 2 also gets better over time. New features and improvements are delivered as updates, the same way your phone and the apps on your phone get better. An example of this was Orca's new weather experience, which turns the Display 2 into a fully featured onboard weather monitoring system.

Orca Display is both a planning and a navigation tool.
Orca Display 2 also works seamlessly with the Orca app on your phone and tablet. The route you planned at home on your phone is already on the Display when you get to the boat, and all your preferences and saved content are seamlessly synced.

Orca easy to use navigation

I have used Orca for 1,5 years on my 39 foot sailboat. I use it both on a display2 at the helm and the app on my phone. I Think Orca is an easy to use navigation system and I fancy the automatik route planning with weather incooperated, autopilot management where I can change course even from the foredeck and most of all through my AIS trance over I can see most board around me and even see if they are crossing before or after me and futhermore at what distance and in x minutes…. that really a nice feature. Kind regards Morten - Denmark
Using CORE2 and ORCA app.

I have a CORE2 device on my sailboat, and I actively use the ORCA application on three tablets. The hardware works so well that I no longer need actual chartplotters. One of the best features is that my map points are synchronized between several tablets, and I can continue planning or editing map points even from home on the couch. One wish would be: I would like to use the ORCA program with a web browser. This way I could use my Linux or Windows devices. I am not an Apple fanboy, so I do not own any Apple devices. I primarily want to use free Linux operating systems, such as Debian/Ubuntu/LinuxMint, etc., and the browser versions for them are Chrome and Firefox.
Connected sailing with Orca

I used Orca now for one full season in different sailing boats to get a better sailing route and execute it.
Perfect with two tablets for helmsman and crew

My Najad 330 was built in 1995 and I bought it in April 2024. The standard network is SeatalkNG. Connected are modern Raymarine devices and a 30 year old Autohelm autopilot (Seatalk 1). I have replaced the older MFD with a 12‘ tablet (IP68) next to the instruments and an 11’ tablet (IP68, IP69K, MIL-STD-810H) directly on the steering wheel. The Orca app runs on both Android tablets. The Orca Core is mounted behind the Raymarine instruments on the companionway. The control of the old autopilot works perfectly. Overall, the system runs smoothly. The configuration of the instrument display is good. The Orca app is very clear. Of course, there are various other functions that I would like to see. However, it is impressive how quickly both the Orca app and the Orca Core are developing. In this respect, I am very confident that some of the desired functions will already be realised for the next season. But even now, the app - in combination with the Core - is by far the best navigation solution I know.
