Head of Growth Marketing
We are looking for a consumer-centric marketing professional to scale a new navigation product for recreational boaters.
As our Head of Growth, you will be the driving force to scale our consumer business. You will own the entire acquisition and conversion funnel. You will leverage product improvements, press, social networks, creatives, referral systems, and performance campaigns to grow our top line.
Most boats have a navigation system - these are traditionally called chartplotters – google it! – and they are built on outdated technologies: They are hard to use, slow, and provide mediocre experiences.
Orca is different from traditional chartplotters. We’re on the mission to build the most modern navigation devices for sailors and cruisers around the world. Our end game is to build the systems to enable autonomous navigation.
We’re now looking for more people to join us on that mission.
What we're looking for
Orca is looking for a highly-skilled, hands-on growth hacker to join our team. You will be responsible for improving and scaling our marketing channels: Our free mobile app, our e-commerce website, our media outreach, and performance marketing.
Your performance, autonomy, clear thinking, and practical skills are more important than years of experience.
The cross-functional nature of the role provides many different ways for you to make an impact. These will be the challenges you will frequently face:
Empathize with our target audience: Understand and experience their problems, their needs, desires, and their willingness to pay through interviews, analytics, surveys, and in-field user-testing
Create an end-to-end marketing strategy that establishes Orca as the premier emerging brand for boaters
Define and execute the plans and campaigns to scale Orca to the next hundred of thousands of boaters
Set up, analyze, and optimize the acquisition and conversion funnel to turn leads into customers
Lead the PR and content strategy by combining in-house work with consultancies and agencies when you see fit
Build hooks and mechanisms to increase engagement, loyalty and nurture Orca’s community of boaters

While the role is fully hands-on from the start, we expect you to gradually transition into a leadership role as our marketing department grows.

You will be accountable for achieving sustainable growth at Orca, and you’ll be able to lean on our product teams to set you up for success.
Who you are
You are a T-shaped marketer: You have a broad knowledge covering a wide range of tactics and you are an expert in 1 or 2 specific areas
You have grown a digital consumer business before and you’ve managed a marketing team
You put the user first: You are detailed-oriented and deliver very high-quality work
Have an innovative and hackerish mindset to explore new ways of doing things
Can work across the entire marketing stack, from hands-on work in Photoshop or Figma to creating email campaigns, to managing our social accounts, and optimizing conversion rates across the entire funnel
Can run digital marketing campaigns via Facebook, Google Search Ads, and other ads platforms
You write concise, clean, and compelling copy that resonates with our target audience
You create imagery, photos, and video quickly, and you are experienced in Photoshop, Final Cut, or other equivalent content creation and editing tools
You have autonomy, proactivity, and ownership to drive work to completion. You are genuinely curious to explore new and unfamiliar tasks to drive more growth
You have an empirical approach to making decisions. You develop strong hypotheses, design experiments to test them, interpret the results, and communicate your findings to the rest of the team

We are a multicultural team with people all over the world. English is our communication interface. We have a hybrid culture: while we have a strong remote culture, we strongly believe in the benefits of co-location. This requires mature and autonomous professionals.
About the team
You will be joining a small and close-knit team of industry veterans. We’ve been working in this space for years, and have several successful startups behind us. Our core experience is product development, software, and hardware engineering.

The team operates out of Oslo and Madrid, with employees working remotely in other countries as well. While we have a great remote culture, we strongly believe in the benefits of working close to each other. This role, being the head of a new team, is required to be located in either Oslo or Madrid and work from our offices on a regular basis.
