Orca is building a modern navigation system for sailors and cruisers. We are growing quickly, have an exciting journey ahead, and are looking for a Business & Finance Operations Manager to join our team. This position will play a crucial role in the success of Orca. 

You will play a crucial role in Orca’s operations. The Business & Finance Operations Manager is responsible for delivering execution excellence in the financial and operational functions of the company. Your primary responsibility will be to strategize, implement, and monitor business processes to ensure seamless operations, financial stability, sustainable growth, and maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations.

The ideal candidate has the technical acumen to be able to communicate effectively with internal teams, has excellent time management abilities, and is passionate about operational excellence. This role directly supports Orca’s mission by ensuring exceptional day-to-day operations at a global scale. To succeed at Orca, you must be energetic, highly organized, and hard-working.

What You’ll Do

Business Operations

  • Sourcing - Implement and optimize efficient sourcing strategies with our suppliers and partners. 

  • Inventory management - Implement strategies to achieve optimal inventory management.

  • Production - Establish production KPIs and conduct quality assessments

  • Shipping - Design and implement shipping processes to ensure excellent customer satisfaction 

  • Processes - Maximize the efficiency of all business procedures

  • Operations - Monitor daily operations and address potential issues when they arise

  • HR - Coordinate with HR to ensure our hiring plans meet our business needs

Finance Operations

  • Controlling - Drive internal reporting and forecasting.

  • Accounting - External reporting of business operations

  • VAT compliance -  Ensure VAT reporting compliance on a global scale.

  • Monitor financial data and recommend solutions that will improve profitability

  • Contracts - Manage and optimize suppliers' contracts.

This role is a hybrid/on-premise role at our Madrid or Oslo office. The startup nature of the team provides many different opportunities for you to make an impact, and develop yourself.

What You’ll Bring

  • Educational experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Business Management.

  • 3+ years of applicable experience with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding goals in a service-focused industry.

  • Experience with accounting and ability to interpret financial data and allocate budgets

  • Experience with EU, US, and cross-border movements of goods - VAT, shipping, and logistics.

  • Good knowledge of operations management

  • In-depth knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management.

  • Ability to problem solve, prioritize multiple projects, and adhere to business-critical deadlines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Dedicated and ethical approach.

  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships acting as a well-respected, trusted partner with whom others want to work

About the Team

You will be joining a small and close-knit team of industry veterans. We’ve been working in this space for years, and have several successful startups behind us. Our core experience is product development, software, and hardware engineering.
